Sansevieria cylindrica – Spear Plant (Large)

Adopted

The Sansevieria cylindrica, often called the spear plant, has been part of my collection since my Baltimore days. At first, it was modest in size, but once it reached South Florida, it transformed into something striking. Its smooth cylindrical leaves now stretch outward like a quiet satellite—geometric, bold, and sculptural. I nicknamed it the “satellite dish” because of the way its radiating form seems to search the sky.

This spear plant thrives in filtered sun with only occasional watering, showing just how low-maintenance and resilient Sansevieria can be. Over time, it has produced many healthy offshoots, expanding naturally while keeping its shape clean and powerful. Small markings on the leaves add personality, turning this plant into a lived-in sculpture that balances strength with elegance. Whether indoors or out, the Sansevieria cylindrica brings a dependable architectural presence to any space.
