Philodendron imbe – Burle Marx “OG Sono” (Medium)

Adopted

This Philodendron ‘Burle Marx’ has always struck me as musical—its flowing leaves move together like instruments in harmony. When I arrived in South Florida, I became captivated by how these plants sway and overlap in unison, creating the sense of rhythm and song. I picked mine up as a clipping during a walk in Boynton Beach around 2022, and since then it has grown into something truly wild. It’s one of my favorite bonsai-like shaped by twisting stems, new buds flaring like small flames, and roots resting on a piece of Hawaiian coral.

What makes this plant even more special is the vessel it grows in. The bowl was once broken, but I repaired it following the philosophy of Kintsugi (金継ぎ). I don’t use gold or lacquer as in the traditional method, but weatherproof glue—honoring the cracks instead of hiding them. For me, the fracture lines tell their own story, adding history and beauty to the piece. Together, plant and pot form a living sculpture—resilient, imperfect, and quietly striking.
