Philodendron Burle Marx – “Spiki” (Medium)
Adopted
Philodendron Burle Marx “Spiki” is a remarkable offspring of my OG plant, Sono. Like its parent, it carries the classic heart-shaped leaves that make Burle Marx so beloved, but what sets this one apart is the architecture of its growth. The main body twists dramatically, sending out sculptural spikes that feel like they’re reaching into new dimensions. Those sharp forms contrast beautifully with the glossy green foliage, which looks soft, friendly, and full of warmth.
That duality is what makes “Spiki” so amazing to me—it’s both approachable and striking. Over time, the stems seem to weave and knot into unexpected shapes, giving the plant a sense of motion, almost like it’s sculpting itself. Watching it grow feels like watching an artwork take form, one new leaf and one new twist at a time. For me, “Spiki” proves that plants can hold personality just as much as presence.
