“818 北斗光” (북두광: Radiance of the Northern Dipper) is a Money Tree that embodies light, direction, and endurance. I first found it in Belvedere Square, Baltimore, drawn to its simple, unbraided trunk—unbound, confident, and steady. It stood only a foot tall (about 30 cm) when I brought it home, yet carried quiet promise. Years later, under the warmth of the Florida sun, it now rises over six feet (about 183 cm), its canopy spreading like a constellation—anchored and luminous, living up to its celestial name.

The Money Tree has long symbolized prosperity, patience, and resilience. For me, “818 北斗光” represents guidance through both dark and bright times—a reminder that light is not only seen but carried within. It mirrors the Big Dipper’s purpose in the night sky, a timeless symbol of orientation and faith. Beneath its canopy, a Burle Marx, a Bromeliad, and two Orchids thrive—one nestled near the base, the other resting high among its branches. The phrase 北斗光 (Radiance of the Northern Dipper) comes from my celestial guardian, the Big Dipper—an emblem of guidance and protection. In Korean tradition, 38광땡 represents the “3–8 Gwang Pair,” the ultimate winning hand in the card game 섯다 (Sutda)—a symbol of rare luck, light, and triumph.
