Kalanchoe thyrsiflora – Flapjack “OG Paddy” (Medium)
Adopted
“OG Paddy” began as a very small Flapjack in Baltimore, and over time, it grew into one of the most reliable plants in my collection. Kalanchoe thyrsiflora is loved for its paddle-shaped leaves that stack upward in layers, creating a sculptural, architectural look. Watching this one develop—from a tiny start to a bold rosette—has been a rewarding journey of patience and resilience.
One of the most striking features of Flapjacks is how their foliage reacts to sunlight. In strong summer light, the edges of the leaves blush red, forming a glowing halo that makes the plant look almost painted. “OG Paddy” endured both Baltimore winters and Florida’s intense sun, proving itself a survivor across climates. For me, it’s a plant that embodies reliability, transformation, and strength—always steady, yet expressive in its seasonal colors.
