Dypsis lutescens – Areca Palm “De Palma” (XL)

Adopted

“De Palma” is my first Areca Palm, and it holds a special place in my collection. Back in Baltimore, I always admired palms but found it nearly impossible to grow them well. When I moved to Boynton Beach, Florida, this became one of the first palms I brought home, and it’s been with me for over five years now. In that time, I’ve pruned it, cared for it, and watched it thrive into a healthy, vibrant plant.

Dypsis lutescens, from the Arecaceae family, is also known as the Areca Palm or Butterfly Palm. Cherished for its graceful fronds that sway like dancers in the breeze, it brings a sense of calm and tropical rhythm to any setting. Often considered a good feng shui plant, the Areca Palm is linked to vitality, positivity, and fresh energy in the home. Reliable, forgiving, and sculptural, “De Palma” has proven to be one of the easiest palms to grow—content to simply dance in the wind. Explore more palms in our Arecaceae collection.
