Dracaena reflexa var. angustifolia – Song of India “OG Samsara” (XL)
Adopted
Dracaena reflexa var. angustifolia, commonly called Song of India, first came into my life in 2020/05/02 when I discovered a fallen branch near my home. Not knowing what it was, I placed it into the soil—and to my surprise, cared for it, it rooted and flourished. In just a several years it reached about 5 feet (152 cm) tall, its lemon-lime striped leaves glowing in the Florida sun. I named it “OG Samsara,” inspired by Samsara (संसार) in Hindu philosophy—the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth—because this plant was literally picked up, given a new chance, and brought back to life.
Song of India is native to Madagascar and nearby islands, but has spread worldwide as a beloved ornamental plant. In many cultures, it symbolizes prosperity and harmony, and in feng shui its upright, variegated leaves are believed to bring positive energy and growth. Easy to propagate, striking in form, and resilient by nature, it embodies renewal and vitality both in symbolism and daily care. Explore more in our Dracaena collection.
