Beaucarnea recurvata – Ponytail Palm “Apollo” (XL)
Adopted
“Apollo” is a Ponytail Palm that’s been with us since our early days in Boynton Beach. Apollo’s other half is Artemis. Over the years, it’s grown larger, heavier, and more full of life—its thick base storing water like a reservoir, and its long, ribboned leaves cascading in soft green waves. Watching it evolve has been a reminder of patience and time well spent.
Beaucarnea recurvata, despite its name, isn’t a true palm but a hardy succulent native to Mexico. Its bulbous trunk holds water, making it exceptionally drought-tolerant, while the thin, arching leaves give it the graceful movement of a fountain in slow motion. Easygoing, forgiving, and architectural, the Ponytail Palm is perfect for bright indoor light or a sunny patio—thriving quietly with minimal attention.
