Aloe vera – “OG Cleo” (Large)

Adopted

Aloe vera “OG Cleo” began its journey with me in Baltimore, where it grew steadily in a modest container. After moving to Florida, it completely transformed—exploding in size and thriving under the subtropical sun. What once felt like a simple houseplant became a striking specimen, with fleshy, upright leaves that radiate resilience and natural beauty.

Aloe has deep cultural roots, valued for centuries across the Mediterranean and beyond. Ancient Egyptians called it the “plant of immortality,” and while Cleopatra herself never mentioned aloe directly, it has long been associated with beauty and healing. Naming this plant “Cleo” felt like a fitting tribute to that timeless legacy.

In South Florida, I’ve barely had to lift a hand. With little water and plenty of light, this plant thrives effortlessly, showing why it’s such a favorite. Beyond its sculptural form, Aloe vera is treasured for the soothing gel within its leaves, often used to calm burns and nourish skin. Explore more in our Aloe collection.
